Course Expectations

Each student will complete:

• Eight hours of classroom instruction
• Kansas State required behind-the-wheel driving time, with a licensed instructor
• Each parent or guardian will be given opportunities to discuss their role and driver's education and the responsibility for completing the 50 hours of state required observation of their student.

• Rules of the Road
• Adverse Weather Conditions
• Risks of Driving
• Basic Skills of Vehicle Operation
• Legal Issues and Accountabilities
• Defensive Driving

 

Each student driver will receive a driver handbook and have the opportunity to checkout textbooks, if needed forms for students to record their 50 hours of state required observed driving are available.

How to apply:

1.Fill out the student application form and the State of Kansas form online.

2.Print off both forms.

3.Mail both forms and $150 deposit to Horizons Driving 1304 E. Republic, Salina, KS 67401.

Once the application and deposit or received Horizons Driving Academy will contact the student by phone to confirm placement in the class a contract will need to be completed and signed at the class session by the student and guardian.
